Got stuck in act 3 due to some way too hard and cryptic puzzles.. Purchased on sale - $15 USDTotal Play time to complete story - 10 HoursPositives:Art Style - My main reason for getting this game was I really enjoyed the bright aesthetic and was hoping for the cheery atmosphere to juxtapose with the horror mechanic.Neutral:Object interaction - This is definitely a game where there is not one correct solution to progress through the level. I appreciate the level design in the manner, however the interactions are not obvious all the time and may require additional hints.Negatives:Sound Design - The kid screaming forced me to turn down my audio setting on my PC because of the distortion from the volume levels being so mismatched. Simple actions like walking on grass sound like you are stepping on a full bag of Doritos.AI - I felt like any time I even walked on the grass of the neighbor's property, he would immediately know my location. It was more tedious than scary as I eventually ended up running past him at the start and nearly never seeing him as I progressed by way though the acts. Game play - This was tough, while I managed to complete all the acts in the game. I did it more so because I felt enough interaction to work through the game rather than because the story was interesting. Buggy - I managed to beat the first act by launching myself into the air by running straight at a box. The engine takes a lot of liberty with object collision and at time you may find yourself dead for no reason other than you loaded slightly incorrectly. TLDR Score - 4.7/10. In my experience so far, if you try to play the game without looking up the solutions online, you will get angry and you will get very very very frustrated. This game will get very hard and annoying when you get stuck and start getting caught, and once all of the traps start coming you may as well start over. Cause when you have no idea what to do next and cant enter the building to find out without 10 cameras going off and getting repeatedly caught by the neighbor. (who seems to know where you are even when he is not alert and has some bug issues when he is alert and searching for you)Probably can be a fun: game, puzzle and story. If you can handle the frustration. If you are the type of person who is prone to putting holes in walls or punching your desk when things do go as planned, definitely stay away.. This game needs a ton of work. Tons of glitches. The Neigbor is far too sensitive he will see you no mater how quite or if your hiding behind somthing. Jumping mechanics is glitchy. Controls is very odd needing a better config. Steep learning curve, with little context to explain what the player is meant to do. Can't recomend the game, but if you enjoy FPS (first person sneakers) just play the Thief series.. Decent game. I used to have a♥♥♥♥♥♥laptop so I couldn't run it. Now that I have a gaming laptop it's a really well made and fun game.. First of all, this game is way to expensive for what its worth, your paying around $30 for some buggy, over hyped, cat and mouse game.Let's start with the AI. This game boasts about its AI, but trust me, it's the worst I have seen. Sure the Neighbour can patch up windows you broke (the "AI" doesn't do it, the game does it after you die), and they can patrol paths you took often. But on the overhand, there were times where the neighbour should've seen me walk right past him, and there was other times where the neighbour shouldn't have seen me where I was all the way on top of the roof and the neighbour woke up and the music just started playing which indicates I was being chased. Overall the AI is buggy and should be focused on more. The game physics. You know whats more of a challenge than the puzzles or the AI? The physics. I spent majority of my game play trying to just find items that flew into orbit when I tossed them onto the ground. Also, when you break a window, if you stand close to it and throw a item, the item goes right through the window without breaking the window.Next, the Animations. Is the Neighbour hugging me or grabbing me? I don't know, but the animations were very sloppy and when I was holding the electromagnet, my thumb looked broken. The puzzles. The puzzles are actually challenging and fun which made this game interesting to me. The hints are very cryptic and you actually have to use your IQ for this game, good job.The story. The story is not that heavily focused on, but I love it. A sad, depressing, cold story of a father losing his family and driven to madness and doing what ever he can to protect whats in the basement. I'm not a sadist, but I love a story that is sad, it actually has an impact rather than the once upon a time and happily ever after which we see all the time. But the story should be more focused and less complicated, I don't want another FNAF.The Acts/levels. Act 1 and 2 is simple compared to act 3. Once you reach act 3, you entered a world of hell. The levels are too short, and act 3 does look complicated to a new player, but very very simple once you know what your doing. This game is way too short for what its worth and the finale was easy as hell. I'd say the most hard part about this game is knowing what to do.Uniqueness. One thing I look for in a game nowadays is it's unique qualities. I'm sick and tired of all these games that just have the same mechanics, story, game play, etc but they just add a new theme. COD is a perfect example, you buy, shoot players to level up, then next COD comes up but its the same thing but new story/setting. Hello Neighbour is a unique stealth game and actually was fun to play no matter how much bad qualities it had.Overall, do I recommend it, ONLY if its on sale but sadly I have to give this game a thumbs down. BUY THIS GAME IF ITS ON SALE, ITS NOT WORTH 30 SOMETHING DOLLARS. Hello Neighbour should've had more time taken onto it, especially on the AI, the AI is not existent on the higher levels of the house. But if you want a refreshing experience and have something new rather than the point and shoot, buy this game.. its laggy on my computer
